2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Codemart as a company ā an incredible run in this fast-paced industry!
Nobody saw this coming
2004 was rife with seemingly unremarkable foundations in tech š
One obscure, nerdy college kid named Mark Zuckerberg launched The Facebook, a Swedish company released Skype 1.0 and ā while everyone was begrudgingly using IE6 ā the Mozilla Foundation branded a technical experiment as "Firefox".
Romania had just joined NATO and "Či ce" from Voltaj was the most popular song in this still-nascent center of Europe's software industry.
And then a handful of techies in Cluj had this idea of founding "Codemart".
20 years later
Today, Codemart has established itself as a powerhouse, in eCommerce, in public transport, in neuroscience, in open source, in numerous countries. We've been carrying the ISO 9001 certification with pride for a few years and we've long turned the Agile Manifesto into the Codemart Way of doing things.
Staff has grown to over 30 smart developers in our 2-floor offices and via remote work ā¤ļø. We've stopped counting our real and virtual servers though ā there are just too many š
1000s of YouTrack tasks are logged, discussed and resolved every year. Pizza is still popular, there's the proverbial table football and a fruit basket is delivered weekly for everyone to enjoy.
The chemistry of Cāā
The Codemart of today still enjoys a flat and nimble hierarchy but is a complex construct nonetheless ā a reflection of the software projects we're working on.
A beautiful company with a complex structure, an amazing stability and a wide range of applications in technology ā that's a surprising match with the carbon allotrope Cāā ā the smallest fullerene physically possible.
That's why we chose the crystalline structure of Cāā as our anniversary symbol.
We love it, we're wearing it and we look forward to explore higher orders in the years to come! š
