The Virtual Brain Twin project is one of Europe's largest initatives for digital health research. Codemart, as software task co-leader, invited scientists and developers from Forschungszentrum Jülich, the INS at Aix-Marseille Université and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos to a one-week hackathon in Cluj.
The hackathon's goal was to prepare the software for a large-scale clinical trial:
- Advising clinicians about treating schizophrenia patients
- Cohort size estimated to cover 200 - 400 patients
- 2 hospitals in Marseille and Munich
- Trial dossier planned for early 2026
- Trial start planned for the end of 2026
One week of intense science & programming
From our squad of 15 people we formed working groups to make quick progress in key areas:
- Clinical trial code
- CI/CD pipelines
- Data preprocessing
- Architecture & data scope/depth
- GUI & presentation
- Simulation based inference (SBI)
Goals reached
Everyone of us truly enjoyed collaborating on site, in person, for an entire week! We achieved so much in a short time and are well prepared to move the needle with APIs, PoC, CI/CD, GUI, GDPR, QA, HPC, 3D-MPRAGE, DTI, fRMI, PET and SBI!. The TRL is exactly where we wanted it! 🤓
