Developed by an international all-star team
Our client VB Tech is a French biotech startup developing digital brain twin solutions to support both clinical decision-making and neuroscience research. Its co-founder and Chief Science Officer Viktor Jirsa is one of the "fathers" of The Virtual Brain and author of more than 200 papers in neuroscience.
Codemart's Brainiacs team has a long history of collaborating with Viktor and his key scientists working at the Institut des Neurosciences des Systèmes (Aix-Marseille University) in Marseille, France.
Rooted in real-world clinical care
The core technology of BrainXplore is not theoretical — it is clinically validated. The approach is being tested in EPINOV, the largest clinical trial in epilepsy surgery to date, involving 13 leading centers and 356 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
VB Tech collaborates with international clinical reference centers in France and the USA to validate its technology in real-world settings. These partnerships support the evaluation, feedback, and adoption of the BrainXplore platform and modules.
As part of the French Nautilus project, within the framework of the France 2030 initiative, BrainXplore delivers the the interactive 3D visualization for patient brains and their treatment with electrode stimulation.
Platform features
BrainXplore is written with an ultra-fast C simulation core, Python and React and delivers a browser-based platform for brain exploration that generates patient-specific digital twins from standard structural and functional neuroimaging. The server can run on-premises with moderate hardware and a Linux OS.
We engineered the platform for interoperability and extensibility, integrating seamlessly with widely used preprocessing pipelines and supporting neuroinformatics standards (e.g., BIDS).
Whether in individual research settings, clinical translation, or multi-institutional projects, BrainXplore supports users ranging from skilled neuroscientists to experienced clinicians and modelers:
- T1-weighted MRI - Anatomical reference and brain parcellation.
- Diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) - Mapping structural connectivity.
- Functional MRI (fMRI) - Capturing resting-state or task-evoked activity.
- Electroencephalography (EEG) & Magnetoencephalography (MEG) - High temporal resolution of neural dynamics;
- Stereo Electroencephalography (SEEG) - Invasive recording from cortical and subcortical structures.
Our deep committment to neuroscience
Creating innovative neuroscience applications is a cornerstone of Codemart's work since we managed to simulate a human brain on a laptop in 2010.
By developing The Virtual Brain as a landmark platform in this field we've become a key contributor to the European Human Brain Project, its infrastructure successor EBRAINS and task leader in multi-year, European research projects like the Virtual Brain Twin.
Our science developers are frequently participating in educative events for students, are accredited as official mentors for the Google Summer of Code and even co-author groundbreaking scientific papers.
